I decided to try another rose. The first one I drew came out with a heavier look than I wanted. The drawing did not portray the thin delicate petals that I saw. This time I used a heavier paper with a slight texture and a bit of color. I also tried using crosshatch instead of blending. I like this result much better.

I would like to draw a bouquet of roses but after drawing the chive patch, I realize that one flower is much easier to draw than several and would need larger paper to do it justice. I also have trouble with backgrounds. Sometimes what is actually there is more complicated to draw than the subject and really not what I want to spend time drawing.
