Pencil drawing of chive blossom

Chive blossom

Pencil sketch
4-27-09

I decided to sketch the chive blossom today to see if I could capture the florescent glow around the top edge, as seen in the morning sun in my back yard. At first I roughed out a portion of yard that included the patch of chives. I soon realized that this included too much detail to sketch in my limited amount of time, so I put it aside and chose to sketch one blossom instead. Even this had much detail that needed to be included to define the subject. Now I am back to subject of details. It seems that sometimes details are very essential to define the subject.
