My main objective with this sketch was to try to get the major proportions correct in a reasonable amount of time and to avoid my tendency to plunge into the details. I did spend most of my time trying to get the proportions correct and am fairly satisfied with this attempt. It has resulted in my best effort so far with the same subject. But I am not sure why my brain wants to put in all the details while overlooking the general proportions. This was evident again while working on this sketch. When I saw that the proportions were coming along I began adding details, including those I could not actually see. I wonder why I feel the need to fill in all the details...
